About energy saving company Green Improvements

We founded our energy saving company – Green Improvements – in 2016, as a way to help more people access the ECO government grants through the Help to Heat scheme.

Our goal is to make sure that more families and individuals have the warm homes they deserve, without spending a fortune on fuel bills.

Working with heating engineers and electricians across the country means we can help thousands of customers to improve their lives and make their homes a better, warmer place to be.

Our customers include families, couples, individuals, pensioners and disabled people. Whether you are a tenant, a homeowner or a landlord, you could be eligible for full or partial funding for your new boiler, storage heaters or insulation.

How can you save energy at home?

How can you save energy at home?

If you’re using more energy than you need to at home, then you’re spending more cash than you need to as well. Plus you might be putting up with a cold, uncomfortable home.

It’s worth taking a look at what grants are available to help you make your home warmer.

And with more efficient heating and additional insulation, it should cost you less to heat too.

There are several ways you can have a warmer home and save money:

1. Replace your old, inefficient boiler

Did you know that heating your home usually eats up at least half of the money you spend on fuel bills? So trading in your old boiler for a new one can make a big difference.

The Energy Saving Trust has worked out that you can save up to £305 each year by switching from an older boiler to a new, A-rated condensing boiler with a programmer, room thermostat and radiator controls. The savings you can make depend on your current boiler, the size of your home, and the insulation you have.

If you are getting the right combination of certain benefits, you could have your old gas, oil or LPG boiler replaced by our energy saving company, Green Improvements, via the government-backed ECO boiler grant scheme.

2. Replace your old, inefficient storage heaters

If you have old storage heaters you’re probably finding they eat electricity, especially over the winter. The good news is that modern storage heaters are much more cost-effective. And they look a lot better too.

With your old storage heaters, some of the insulation inside – around the heating core – has probably broken down. This means they cost more to run and won’t be keeping your home as warm as they should.

Modern storage heaters have up to twice as much insulation so they hold the heat better. They also give you more control – so you can set heating schedules that are right for you and your family.

If you’re in receipt of the right benefits, these storage heaters are also available through the government grants scheme. If you’d like to replace yours, apply now to see if you’re eligible.

3. Save money on your fuel bills by insulating your home

Many of our customers have insulation fitted at the same time as changing their boiler or storage heaters. This can be available free through the grants scheme too and can make your home feel a lot warmer.

More than a third of your home’s heat is lost through the walls. So insulation can help you save up to £455 a year off your fuel bills, depending on the size of your home.

Heat loss measurements show that in most homes:
25% of heat loss is through the roof
35% is through the walls
10% is through the windows
15% is through external doors
15% is through the floor

These are approximate figures, and they can vary depending on whether you already have insulation.

There are grants available for you if you’re on benefits, so it’s worth checking to see whether you qualify. Our customers have had grants for loft insulation, room in roof insulation, external wall insulation and internal wall insulation. They always tell us they can feel the difference once the insulation is in. It can make a big difference to how warm your home feels.
